NISI MASA Workshop

26. August bis 1. September 2013:
  • Filmemachen selbst erleben.

August 26th – September 1st 2013:
  • Experience hands-on filmmaking in an international environment.
  • Be part of the creative process.
  • Go from story to screen in six days!

reveladaIn this highly practical course twelve participants from three different European countries discover all key aspects of filmmaking. No matter if this is their first encounter with practical filmmaking or if they wish to deepen a first experience, all participants learn essential filmmaking skills and have a chance to apply them directly: As part of a group, everyone takes part in creating a short film, either a fictional piece or a documentary, which will of course be premiered on the big screen at the end of the workshop.

After an introduction to screenwriting and dramatic structures each group will write and develop a script.  Here, the participants from Turkey, Austria and Germany will first share their unique points of view, informed by their respective cultural background, and then continue to develop a common vision throughout the filmmaking process. They explore the craft behind core skills like directing, camera operating, lighting or sound recording. After shooting their film, during the process of postproduction, the groups explore film and sound editing as well as the power of film music and colour correction.

The workshop also includes a series of short seminars, providing further background information on film, filmmaking and working in the industry.

This workshop is presented by NISI MASA (The European Network of Young Cinema / Réseau européen du jeune cinéma), Münchner Filmwerkstatt E.V. (Munich Film Society) and funded by Youth in Action. Upon completion, the short films produced in this workshop will become part of a compilation of short films, which will be distributed by NISI MASA with the aim of inspiring further cross-cultural audiovisual projects.
